The codex presents pet care basics, warning signs, costs and official sources using a consistent structure.

How does the Pet Care Codex work?

The database stores species, types/breeds and shared sections in a JSON file. Each animal can be described through the same topic set: lifestyle, feeding, habitat, activity, monthly costs, health tendencies, training, everyday signs, red flags and sources.

The content is educational. Sudden deterioration, pain, loss of appetite, breathing difficulty, suspected poisoning or injury requires veterinary care.

Methodology

  • Consistent structure: each profile uses the same sections, making future comparison and extension easier.
  • Species-specific warnings: for example water quality for fish, temperature for chinchillas, bathing and odor for ferrets, litter habits for cats.
  • Source-based content: each profile lists the official or professional sources linked to it.
